Your essence is Light. You are what the stars are made of. Particles of stardust weave their presence through the celestial blueprint of your life. Study the cosmos and you are studying the inner workings of your very soul, your vast luminescent Being.
Sit under a canopy of stars and gaze into the history of your life. Take a deep breath, close your eyes and bring to mind the memory of just such a magical night when you gazed enthralled at the mysteries of the sparkling night sky. The darkness enveloped you until you knew nothing but the cosmos. Maybe it is a memory of being high in the mountains away from the lights of any city where the air is so clear the stars seem to be right at your fingertips, inviting you to reach out and touch them. As you breathe in this beauty and wonder it strikes you in a flash of knowing, you are looking into the vastness of YOU! You carry the All That Is within you! The grandeur and unfathomable vastness of the Universe is a reflection of your own magnificence, your own inner Light. Another deep breath with that realization!
No longer can you see yourself as just one infinitesimal dot in space among billions of galaxies. You are the Universe, recognizing and owning your power to create. An experience of feeling even a smidgen of that enormous expansiveness may change your life forever. You are the embodiment of the Light of the Universe on Earth, your cells twinkling like little stars.
As the embodiment of the cosmos we have an opportunity to see the astrological players from a new vantage point. What if we live our astrology as the planets, the various signs, the aspects? How would it change our experience if we were the Pluto/Uranus square? Now it’s not viewed as something happening to us, we are the creators! Astrologer and word master, Rob Brezsny posits, “…we could seek out and hunt down invigorating jolts…we might even master the art of inducing shocks that feel really good.” Essentially saying, when we intentionally choose to go outside our comfort zone we have the opportunity to shake the tree of our being into new levels of vitality and scintillation. Practiced in such a way makes every astrological event one of supreme empowerment. We as Uranus can fling imaginary lightning bolts of inspiration from our fingertips anytime we want! As Neptune we can carry the highest dreams possible for the collective. The opportunities to be Light are only limited by our imagination.
As we weave our way through the shifts and changes taking place in June, you might like to playfully experience being the Sun in Gemini, changing to Cancer or the New Moon growing rounder as it cycles into its Fullness. It’s all about Light, this month… cycles of light, lightness of being, time to lighten up, light-heartedness. It is the month of the sunlight of the longest day and the starlight of the longest night, the reflected light of a super full moon. The remembering of our own radiantly brilliant essence of Light.
Venus starts the cosmic dance on June 2 as she joins Mercury in the sign of Cancer. The chattiness and fact-finding passion of Gemini melts away. Mercury, ever so relaxed in his hammock in the wooded yard, chats companionably with Venus as she lovingly cradles a baby in her arms. Other children play boisterously nearby. The picnic table is laden with a variety of delicious foods. The feeling is one of peacefulness and plenitude. Mother Earth at her most opulent. There is a sense that time has paused ever so slightly and a languid air of quiet embraces us.
Mercury who went into Cancer at the end of April apparently loves hearth and home so much he’ll be here all month. He talks of nurturing and caring for each other, whether it be in the home or as a community. His intention is to foster a sense of family that goes far beyond blood ties. With Mercury in Cancer we are remembering what it means to be One family, globally and cosmically. He has gathered the information and contacts he needed while in Gemini and now shares them in a more personal intimate way, showing what it means to truly take care of yourself and others in a most loving way.
Neptune pauses in his forward movement and turns retrograde on the 7th at 5 degrees Pisces 22 minutes, not turning direct again until November 13 at 2 degrees Pisces 35 minutes. As long as a dream lives inside of you there is a plan for its time in space, beautifully illuminates this new movement of Neptune. The dream that we as Neptune carry within us can feel nebulous, ambiguous, more than just a little elusive. This retrograde time offers us the opportunity to get comfortable with that uncertainty. It also says we can learn to let go of the mind’s need to control timing and move into divine right time. Even as the mind might rail, the body heaves a deep sigh of relief!
Just as we have stepped into the misty realms of retrograde Neptune in Pisces, feeling our way through the no-thingness, there is a New Moon in Gemini on June 8. This New Moon energizes and infuses our perceptions with curiosity as we take our fledgling steps in this new landscape even as the panorama morphs and changes before our eyes. We are filled with fresh ideas and a multitude of questions on how to explore this inner indeterminate vista. The Moon and Gemini provide the perfect pairing to continue our journey of noticing what we notice in a totally new way, or even in a slightly altered way. Either perspective will offer a unique frame of reference, often in delightfully surprising multidimensional ways. This is meant to be a magical sojourn for the senses. W.B. Yeats surely knew this when he wrote “The World is full of magic things, patiently waiting for our senses to grow sharper.”
Only three days into the nebulous watery realm of the Neptunian journey, we come upon Saturn who greets Neptune in the most congenially of ways. They are both in retrograde in the water signs of Pisces (Neptune) and Scorpio (Saturn) at 22 degrees 5 minutes. Saturn discerns that we might be “nebulous challenged” at this early point in our journey and certainly doesn’t want us to miss any opportunities by giving up, so he and Neptune devise a plan to help us build an inner platform for our trip through misty land. That blueprint is unique to each of us serving as our own roadmap for integrating in a conscious way the vastness of our Being. Saturn sagely reminds us that embodying expansiveness is one of our new frames of reference in the multidimensional world we are now beginning to experience more and more. Smiling like Cheshire cats, they say in order to be able to follow this roadmap, all you have to do is notice what you notice! You have all the information you need. Every moment is unique, unknown, completely fresh.
On June 16, Chiron joins the pause in forward movement group by turning retrograde himself at 13 degrees Pisces 50 minutes. Whoa, more inner watery feelings arising?! We, as these planets in the water signs, are making sure that we are heeding the directive to feel, not think, our way through life.
Saturn will soon leave the retrograders when he turns direct in July. We will then take our deep Saturn transformations out into the world. With Saturn energy imbuing us, we will have opportunities to share the truth that there is no outer authority. We can experience and teach how to inhale back our own Authority with great passion and an open heart.
Meanwhile, both Chiron and Neptune remain more inner-directed until November. They continue to help us heal the faulty memory, which has disallowed our knowing and the experiencing of our inherent brilliant luminosity. Pisces lends itself to dissolving boundaries made so arbitrarily from a place of fear in that third dimensional past. Neptune and Chiron are giving us a training session in allowing our assumptions and beliefs to melt away. This dissolution can take place organically and naturally inviting awareness of the higher dimensions with an ease that may surprise us. We are in a good position to energize a healing dream for the collective.
The Sun enters Cancer on June 21 marking the beginning of a new season, a time of celebration that comes with the start of something new. The Sun in Cancer is the dad who tenderly holds his tiny newborn in his big work-callused hands. It is such the blending of masculine and feminine qualities displaying the power to invoke new life rather than commanding it to grow. This Sun asks, how do I value the essence of things even when that essence is invisible? Open hearts see love everywhere.
A Cancer Sun holds dear creating a safe place for new life to grow, be it in the form of a child or another kind of creative project. Matt Kahn reminds us as emerging Light Beings that it is safe to be in this body, our womb space. We are, in fact birthing ourselves. How best to we nourish that process?
In the Northern Hemisphere, the Sun is at its most powerful, at its peak of sunlight. After the Summer Solstice, the Sun’s rays begin to light up more of the Southern Hemisphere and the days will shorten in the North. For the North it is a celebration of Earth as Mother Goddess, the feminine and the living natural world. The cyclic dance of changing Light continues its rhythm.
In the Southern Hemisphere it is the time of the Winter Solstice. There is great stillness before the Sun’s strength builds again and the days grow longer. It is a time to rest and reflect, while waiting for the Sun to be reborn.
Whether Northern or Southern Hemisphere, the focus is on Light. In the North it is a time we are often outdoors receiving the warmth and light of the Sun’s rays. Strings of lights, candles and sparklers remind those in the Southern Hemisphere of their inner light.
The Capricorn Full Moon follows closely on June 23, bringing its own brilliant reflected light. And it is a supermoon, not greatly out of the ordinary as there can be several during any given year. It is, however, the largest and closest full moon of 2013. It is also the closest encounter with Earth that the Moon will have for all of 2013. In fact, this big ol’ moon does present the closest lunar encounter with Earth until August 10, 2014. Do you think it has something to say?
Just as the Sun in Cancer provides an opportunity to experience balanced masculine and feminine energies, so does this Capricorn Moon. The ideas birthed at the time of the New Gemini Moon are now asking to be given form, a form that redefines inner and outer authority, a structure that gives Cancer’s nurturing place a final foundation. What can that look like? Men and women together setting forth on those first steppingstones on the path with strength and certainty that nurturing and supporting each other within the collective is the way forward. This is the path that leads to identifying and transforming limiting beliefs in order to manifest a vision, a shared vision. Part of the vision includes teaching from a deep wisdom once again remembered and expressed as an open mind, the teacher who can be taught. This Capricorn Supermoon invokes within us the impetus to embody our vastness, to put to its final rest the game of playing small.
Jupiter can hardly wait to expand even further on the theme of nourishment, caring for self and each other. Only two days past the Supermoon, on June 25, and just four days after the sacred season marker of the solstice, Jupiter dives into Cancer with an enthusiasm and wholeheartedness that he is famous for. He proclaims in his booming voice I LOVE the way you humans play my part by being such a HUGE wave of energy for enormous change! I LOVE HUGE! Are you getting an inkling of how powerful you are? Do you know how much Love and Light you are radiating as remember you are the Universe? Fledgling steps? Hah! We’re ready to take leaps and bounds to manifest that vision of Oneness. Yep, Michael Jackson is here, too, singing his tune, We Are the World. Jupiter continues with great gusto reminding us that we are not alone and are so strongly supported by the whole Cosmos. Still not to be contained he continues in his deep resonant voice, ‘Course I know that is sure a HUGE idea to get your head around, but no matter, just entertain the possibility and as you love yourself and love others, by Jove you will see that reflected back to you. He grins HUGELY.
Mercury, still so very comfy in his Cancer garden hammock, lazily pauses any swinging for the moment, as he turns retrograde on June 26. I do believe I would like to revisit some earlier dreams, make sure we all get that nurturing communication experience fully integrated. So instead of leaving Cancer, he lies still at 23 degrees 07 minutes and begins his backward movement (now how you swing backward in a hammock is a mystery!) On July 20, he once again resumes his direct action at 13 degrees Cancer 22 minutes. Mercury reiterates, love yourself, love yourself, and love yourself even more. What a delicious focus for those three weeks! It could even become a habit!
Venus, her time in Cancer drawn to a close on June 27, replaces her apron with a most colorful swirl of a dress. It’s not that I don’t love the little buggers, she laughs, it’s just that I want to step out and celebrate life! Celebrate the little child within each of us! I do love playing, that’s true. And creating, on my, what an absolute joy that is! Her living and loving life is quite contagious and she magnetizes people to her Lightness wherever she goes.
After May’s tumultuous intensity, the Light and Love of June is a soothing balm, a mother’s warm embrace, a father’s hug and kiss, the sweet smile of a baby, encouraging us to keep on hopping from one stepping stone to the next, knowing with even more clarity the truth of Maya Angelou’s words:
Nothing can dim the light which shines from within!
We are meant to shine our magnificent luminescent sparkling brilliance!! YES!!
