As I sit, rocking and reflecting on where life in America is this June, I am reminded of a song from the ’70′s, Will It Go Round in Circles, by Billy Preston. This songs makes me feel here we go again, off to war, in at least three more Viet Nam-style conflicts. Our first stop is Syria, where we will witness the Americans, once again, against the Russians. This time, we are not attempting to “stem the Red Tide” (more linguistic memorabilia from the ’70s), which means that we are not fighting the Russians because they are communist. We’re fighting over spheres of influence and commerce. Okay, back to Syria – we know that the unrest in this country is due to its citizens fighting each other over a difference of opinion as to who happens to be the rightful heir of Mohammed, the Islamic Prophet.
So, as America supplies weapons and intelligence to the Syrian rebels, we are helping them to defeat the ruling elite. As a result, we also contribute to the inevitable formation of internal religious conflicts between the different Islamic factions. We are unleashing untold devastation. This has already happened in Iraq, Yemen and Libya. This causes the destruction of many lives, while we secure more commerce in the region.
Through the repetition of these unscrupulous actions, the United States is breaking down the global power structure that was created after the two world wars. So, as we begin to recreate the new world order, we are making amendments to this structure, now some 40 years after our participation in the Viet Nam conflict ended. Here’s our M.O.: we destroy a small country, devastate its economy, and then, send in the World Bank and IMF, to finance the reconstruction of what we just destroyed! Of course, American and European businesses procure the contracts for that reconstruction. How much more morally/spiritually bankrupt could this be?
To make matters even worse, think of this: America, France and Britain are arming the same people who fought against us in Afghanistan and Iraq! At that time, we called them Al-Qaeda. However, when we decided to give this same groups weapons to invade Libya, we chose to refer to them as “rebels”. Presently, we are funding the rebels, even as they continue to swear allegiance to Osama Bin Laden and to the destruction of American occupation of their lands.
Now, that you’ve got this, let’s go back to my original thought of ”life going round in circles”, for I understand that these circles of life represent the cycles of the universe. My first introduction to this cosmic wisdom came from studying the indigenous people of Meso-America – namely the Olmec and the Maya – over forty years ago. You see, the Maya believed that from December 21, 2012 to somewhere around the end of January 2014, we are living in a grace period between the end of the old and the beginning of the new age. These ages, according to the Maya, last 5,125 years. During this 400-day grace period, we have the chance to align ourselves with the highest ideals we can possibly conceive. In other words, it is time for us to align with our highest self; that part of us that has never left Heaven! Here are my suggestions for doing this most effectively:
Practice courageous compassion
Honestly review the value of your love
Allow only love to be your inner guide
If you are dedicated to the practice of these three simple steps, you will cultivate much more spiritual power than you have ever known. Please do not allow everything that is going on around you now to cause you to miss the greatest opportunity you’ll ever have to center your life in dignity, integrity, direction and purpose.
Above all else, let us think war unthinkable!
In love and purpose,
